Over $950,000 Awarded in Grants & Scholarships since 1996

Lura Bradfield had two dreams: first, to help young women further their education and second, to support institutions that had programs for abused women. Lura's dreams are realized with each grant and scholarship given. Since the Foundation's inception in 1996, grants and scholarships have amounted to over $950,000.

About this Year's Speaker - Dr. Ludy Green

B.A. University of Wisconsin
Ph.D. University of Chicago

Dr. Ludy Green is President and Founder of Second Chance Employment Services. With over 15 years of Human Resources (HR) experience, she holds a master's degree in HR Management and a doctorate in Industrial Organization Psychology. Dr. Green belongs to an extensive network of HR managers representing Fortune 500 companies and has held the following positions:

  • Vice President of Human Resources for a major national association
  • Director of Human Resources for an international women's organization
  • Associate Director of Human Resources for a management consulting firm

Dr. Green has been a community activist for women's and children's issues for over 12 years and currently holds or has held the following appointments:

  • Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees, Family and Children's Trust Fund of Virginia
  • Commissioner, Commission on the Status of Women, Arlington County, Virginia
  • Member, Policy Committee, Mothers at Home
  • Reviewer, Department of Health and Human Services Grant Review Panel
  • Advisor, English for Speakers of Other Languages and High Intensity Language Training (ESOL/HILT), Virginia
  • Vice President, American Association of University Women (AAUW)
